Lisa Solomon is a soprano with a passion for early and less-performed music. Based in Bremen, Germany, she holds a Master’s of Music in historical singing performance from the Hochschule für Künste Bremen, where she studied with Prof. Benno Schachtner and Bettina Pahn. Lisa subsequently completed a master’s in Music of the Middle Ages at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany, studying with Benjamin Bagby (Sequentia), Prof. Dr. Stefan Klöckner, and Dominik Schneider. She also holds a B.A. in Comparative Literature from Stanford University.
As a soloist, she draws on her background in literary studies to create text-centered performances and develop distinctive concert programs. Her artistic projects have been supported by several scholarships and grants, including from the German Orchestra Foundation, which led, among other things, to performances at the Heinrich Schütz Music Festival. She is also a founding member and artistic director of Ensemble ONDAS, which specializes in medieval music from the 11th to the 15th centuries.
In addition to performing, Lisa is also a dedicated teacher of voice and early music performance. She regularly performs and teaches at the Amherst Early Music Festival, where she has co-led the Medieval Project with Benjamin Bagby and Lawrence Rosenwald since 2024. Lisa teaches voice and directs the children’s choir at the Musikschule Wilhelmshaven.
